From Grasslands
to Gardens

Take a tour across four different gardens and discover plants that may originate in surprisingly distant locales but feel right at home in Colorado. Use your printed map or our digital map to find the gardens as you go.

Colorado has a distinctive semi-arid climate with hot summers and cold winters and includes grasslands and shrubland habitats. This climate, called steppe, is shared with several other places around the world, including areas of eastern Asia, South Africa and South America. As a result, plants from these faraway regions can be grown in Colorado.

Explore plants from Colorado-like landscapes across the globe, and learn about the international origins of many familiar (and unfamiliar!) plants.
